A Top Rating for Tres Dragones Natural
Our cult favorite lot from Café Granja La Esperanza is back with a bang this year: 96 Points from Coffee Review!
They call it "a superb fermented-natural Colombia with concentrated dark berry and stone fruit, floral lift and deep chocolate sweetness, distinguished by exceptional flavor intensity and a powerful yet beautifully integrated structure."

This hybrid-natural Colombia varietal from Esperanza's Potosí farm has a unique history. In 2017, a fire consumed the original house and processing area of the farm. But the Herrera brothers saw an opportunity to create something new: "This rich and expressive profile resurged from the ashes of our Potosí farm, devastated by a voracious fire, leaving just dust under our shoes. As always in Café Granja La Esperanza, we looked at the bright side of things and that is how we found ourselves in front of an empty space to redesign our entire production facility. We adopted three dragons mechanical dryers to help us bring to life, with their fire, one of our most recognized and demanded profiles. The versatility of the dragons showed us new ways of enhancing natural notes in this already beautiful profile, making it richer in taste and intensity."
This lot is picked manually and then rigorously sorted before fermenting for 36 hours in cherry under controlled temperature. After fermentation, the coffee is moved to mechanical dryers for 48 hours, then moved to a solar drying facility for 15 days, until it reaches a moisture content of 11%.

Anyone who's tried this coffee can attest that it is uniquely flavorful, and it's become one of our most anticipated arrivals each year. We love its high-toned citric acidity, trademark strawberry note, and rich undertones of cocoa nib and baking spice.
Our roast is also a finalist for Coffee Review's inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup in the Experimental category. Read the entire assessment on Coffee Review's website.
